About Betsy Uliss, SPHR
“Resilient”, “upbeat”, and “sincere” are just several of the top-of-the-mind descriptors when someone recommends, “Call Betsy Uliss; because she ‘gets it’!” “We all should be so fortunate to have that reputation going for us,” a colleague recently said about Betsy.
Experience
Betsy brings to her human resource consulting business more than 25 years of progressively demanding assignments in the highly charged environments of world-class and name brand organizations as Macy’s, Corning, Inc. (Steuben Glass), Office Depot World Headquarters, and RSM McGladrey Accounting, Tax & Business Consulting.
Today, Betsy works with hand-picked business owners of small to medium sized companies here in South Florida, her home base, and on the Eastern Seaboard. Her clients look to her for expert bottom line advice on compliance, organizational strategy, employee relations and “employer of choice” practices.
Clients & Honors
Careful not to specialize, Betsy’s client base includes upscale golf and country clubs, property management enterprises, and the non-profit sector. Because of her high profile accomplishments in the hospitality industry she not only became a member of Hospitality Finance and Technical Professionals (HFTP), an international organization. She was honored with by-lined articles titled “Generational Diversity” in the August 2007 issue and “Are your Employees Engaged?” in the December 2007/January 2008 issue of their bi-monthly BottomLine magazine.

Community Involvement
Drawing upon her tradition of “giving back” to the community and to her profession, Betsy is Board Chair of the Alliance for Families with Deaf Children (AFDC) a South Florida non-profit agency that assists deaf children to achieve success in life through empowering their families with customized resources, special services, and caring support not typically available anywhere else.
Betsy is currently Program Chair and Board Member of the Broward Chapter (HRABC) of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In January 2007, she achieved her accreditation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by passing a demanding exam that encompassed the six bodies of HR knowledge. That accomplishment led to her becoming co-facilitator of the SPHR classes held at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Boca Raton, FL.
Pursuing her passion of working with young adults, Betsy offers her career counseling expertise in support of career development initiatives at FAU and Nova Southeastern University. She conducts mock interviews, performs resume critiques, and relishes being a guest speaker in the classroom addressing pertinent HR issues.
Taking a leaf from her professors in school and admired colleagues, she shares her vision by providing one-on-one mentoring and career counseling as the opportunity presents itself.
Education
A native of Massachusetts, Betsy holds a Master’s in Special Education from Boston College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Interests
No surprise; Betsy is an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan! She also plays competitive doubles tennis every chance she gets. At home, in Boca Raton, she has two pampered Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Rocket and Wizard. |
